Up to August 16, 2021, we counseled 11,582 women intending to have abortions. So far 1,172 of these women have decided to keep their babies. These figures may not seem too impressive, but one must consider that the women we counsel come to the hospital very determined to have an abortion that very day. Those who gave up the idea of having an abortion did so as a result of our meeting them in the hospital, counseling them and offering practical help. Some had already paid the bill for the abortion. Therefore it is not the case that some of these women might not have considered an abortion and were only searching for help to get through the situation. The children you see in the pictures would literally not have existed in our world if concrete help had not been available. It is true that their mothers face difficulties, but the babies have also brought them a new sense of fulfillment and joy that only parents can understand. As a result, none of the women regret their decision to keep the baby and none abandoned the baby after delivery.
Once she decides to keep her baby, the future mother undergoes a process of total transformation. She starts expressing maternal feelings and looks forward to the moment of birth with great expectation. Although a short time before she was in despair, sad and alone, seeing abortion as the only solution, through the decision to keep the baby she is radically changed. She becomes very interested in the health of her baby and behaves as any other mother that actually planned the arrival of her baby. She manages to get through the moment of crisis. Major changes also take place in her social status, as many get married to their partner, who in turn is also radically changed and becomes a responsible father.
We invite you to read and watch a few testimonies on this site, which prove these statements. You can also see the results of our work in the smile of these children, who have been given the chance to live and by their simple presence change the lives of all around them, something only a child could achieve.
